About us.

Yakka began in 2021 by owners James & Chelsea. In between COVID lockdowns & taking a hiatus from their respective careers in music + the creative arts, they spent every spare minute exploring regional Australia and enjoying everything good about it: the people; the produce; the wine and beer, and the unique & wonderful cultural fabric that make up small towns of Australia.

The concept for Yakka started here and began in the industrial seaside town of Port Kembla, NSW. Kicking off a renewed interest in the growing economic area with their concept store, Yakka Records & Bottle-O.

Stocked full of natural, biodynamic wine, craft & farmhouse beer, small batch Australian spirits, non-alcoholic drinks, vinyl records & deli goods - Yakka became a local institution for its highly curated selection of goods and the regularly held intimate masterclasses, community events, markets and more.

Yakka has evolved from these early days, with the Port Kembla space now closed to focus more on regional pop-up’s, interesting collaborations and bespoke events that celebrate food, wine and culture.
